CHARGEWORKS (a brand of Wattmotive EV Tech Private Limited) (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the CHARGEWORKS mobile application and our EV charging services.

By using the Application, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information that allows us to provide a seamless charging experience.

Personal Data: Name, mobile number, email address, and billing address.
EV-Specific Data: Vehicle make/model, connector type, and (where integrated) Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or battery state-of-charge data.
Transaction Data: Charging session logs (duration, energy consumed, location, and amount paid).
Note: We do not store credit card/UPI PINs; these are handled by RBI-authorized payment gateways.
Geo-Location Information: We require precise real-time location access to help you find the nearest charging stations, provide navigation, and verify that you are at the correct charger to initiate a session.
Device & Technical Data: IP address, device ID, operating system, and app usage patterns (Derivative Data).

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your data to:

Facilitate Charging: Authenticate your account and start/stop charging sessions.
Process Payments: Manage wallet top-ups, invoices, and refunds.
Support & Maintenance: Troubleshoot hardware issues at specific chargers using your session logs.
Safety & Compliance: Prevent fraud and ensure the safety of the charging network.
Communication: Send transaction receipts, low-balance alerts, and (with your consent) promotional offers.

4. DATA SHARING & DISCLOSURE

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with:

Payment Aggregators: To process your financial transactions securely.
CPO Partners: If you use a third-party charger integrated into our network, your basic session data may be shared with that operator.
Legal Authorities: When required by law or to protect the safety of our users and equipment.

5. DATA RETENTION & SECURITY

Retention: We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you close your account, we may retain certain data for legal and audit purposes (e.g., tax records of payments) for a period of up to 7 years as per Indian law.
Security: We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) and secure server environments. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. YOUR RIGHTS (DPDP ACT ALIGNMENT)

As a "Data Principal," you have the following rights:

Right to Access & Correction: You can update your profile information directly in the app.
Right to Erasure: You may request account deletion (subject to the 1-year cooling-off period mentioned in our Terms of Service).
Right to Withdraw Consent: You can disable location services or opt-out of marketing, though this may limit app functionality.
